Visiting researchers Lars Waldorf and Daniela Lai join the Varieties of Peace team
Varieties of Peace Research program welcomes Daniela Lai and Lars Waldorf to Uppsala and Umeå in August 2019.
Daniela Lai is currently completing a book on socioeconomic justice in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as working on her new project on the role of economic actors in peace and justice processes. Her general research interest lies in the connections between post-war justice processes and the political economy of post-conflict states. Since September 2018 Daniela Lai works as a Lecturer in International Relations at London South Bank University. She completed her PhD in 2017 at Royal Holloway, University of London, and worked at University College London and the London School of Economics before joining LSBU.
Lars Waldorf is currently a Reader at Dundee Law School who will start a new post as Professor at Essex Law School in September 2019. He works primarily on transitional justice and peacebuilding in post-genocide Rwanda and post-war Sri Lanka. He ran a project on dance and legal empowerment for people with war-related disabilities in Sri Lanka: https://performingempowerment.wordpress.com/. He co-edited Remaking Rwanda; Localizing Transitional Justice; and Disarming the Past: Transitional Justice and Ex-Combatants.
