Research on relational peace presented at CSR Annual Conference in Brighton

Varieties of Peace core team members Anna Jarstad and Johanna Söderström attended the 2019 edition of the Conflict Research Society annual conference in Brighton, United Kingdom. The event took place on the 9th and 10th of September and was hosted by the University of Sussex's Centre for Conflict and Security Research.

Through a series of keynote speeches and parallel panel sessions featuring both academics and practitioners, conference participants were able to discuss each other's work under the theme "Rethinking Conflict Research and Practice in a Post-Liberal World".

Varieties of Peace Program Director Anna Jarstad presented her paper "Peace(s) in Mitrovica" at a panel on divided societies after the Balkan wars, and also acted as both a chair and discussant at the panel entitled "(De)politicization, Power and Democracy". For her part, Johanna Söderström presented her paper "Relational peace among elites in Guatemala and Cambodia" at a panel on post-war stability and violence, which she also chaired.
